I met this guy who lays down awesome drum breaks. He lives in Portland. I’m in the Los Angeles area. He sends me his audio loops. I lay down basslines to his drum tracks. Then this girl from San Francisco layers some sweet synthesizers over the top. Occasionally my friend from New York sprinkles some trippy guitar riffs for good flavor.
Eventually a full track takes form. I play it during my DJ set at the drift lounge- a place where my friends like to hang out, spin poi, and paint.
Some day everyone will come together for a live set. Until then we’ll be a long-distance band.
